ROSEY CONCERT HALL, LE ROSEY SCHOOL, 1180 ROLLE SATURDAY, 9th NOVEMBER AT 8.00 P.M.
On a visit to the Warrior Games in the USA in 2013, HRH Prince Harry, the Duke of Sussex, saw how the power of sport can help physically, psychologically and socially ex-Armed Services personnel suffering from injuries and illness. Inspired by his visit, he started the Invictus (meaning “Unconquered”) Games, the first of which took place in London in 2014. The 5th Games will be in The Netherlands in 2020.
As 2019 marks the 80th Anniversary of the start of the Second World War and the 75th Anniversary of the D-Day Landings in Normandy to liberate Western Europe from Nazi Germany’s occupation, it was decided, with the support of British Associations in Switzerland, including the BRA, that a Concert should be held to mark the anniversaries and to raise funds for the Invictus Games Foundation.
The Concert will feature the Brass Band Arquebuse, Switzerland’s leading ensemble in the brass band style, the Pipes and Drums Band of Geneva, a massed choir and soloists. The Hall seats nearly 1000 people and the audience will include diplomatic representatives of the 12 countries that were involved in the D-Day Landings in June 1944, as well as from the Federal Republic of Germany and Russia, formerly the Soviet Union. (Tickets CHF 46.30 and 61.60 from StarTicket https://www.starticket.ch/en/tickets/in-remembrance-concert-20191109-2000-rosey-concert-hall-rolle)
