Sermon Topic –  Easter Sunday

Mary Magdalene is one of the most wonderful characters in the Gospel accounts. A woman of faith and love and great heart, who stands in her grief and unknowing when everyone else flees and who is rewarded with perhaps the greatest privilege in scripture. She is the first witness to the resurrection. In that garden on Easter morning the long sad history of the world turns, and the brokenness and sin and corruption which began in another Garden at the dawn of time, start to be reversed. Easter is the turning point of history the first fruits of all that was achieved on the Cross being made real. Heaven is breaking in, it is a new dawn, a new day is coming. And one day that work will be complete –  the Bible closes with the words “Look God’s dwelling place is now among his people, he will wipe every tear from their eyes, there will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.
