John 14v15-21 “If you love me, keep my commands.”
If you could give your younger self a piece of advice what would it be? What would you do differently if you had your time over again? Wisdom is often hard earned, but it would save us a lot of pain.
And in the Bible we are offered the wisdom of God.
Therefore we obey the commandments of God not motivated by fear or duty, but because we believe God has the best for us. And you don’t do this in your own strength; it isn’t about self mastery, it is God at work in us by his Spirit. And this isn’t simply about morality, it is a reformation of the heart, as we are little by little remade in God’s image. This new life is found in following the way and the wisdom of Jesus, discipleship is a ‘long obedience in the same direction’. This is the truth that sets you free.
